Stamp Review Crew: So Many Stars

Welcome to the So Many Stars edition blog hop presented by the Stamp Review Crew!   I do hope everyone had a lovely weekend... here in the US we enjoyed a long Thanksgiving holiday weekend.  So much to be grateful for!

So Many Stars is a beautiful and delicate Christmas stamp set... especially when combined with the coordinating die set.

I thought it would be fun to experiment with a non-holiday card style to stretch the use of this gorgeous set beyond the traditional season.  In fact I jumped ahead to spring by using the Country Club Designer Series paper.   This fun paper will be available in January in the upcoming Mini Catalog.

The front "Happy Birthday" is inked with the coordinating colored Stampin' Write Markers and adhered to a Clear Window Sheet.  This lets the fun paper peek through!

I used Stampin' Blends to color in one of the line drawings from the DSP.   Coloring with the Blends is one of my very favorite techniques and I was happy to see how well they worked on the Designer Series paper.  One tip:  Use a very light touch and go fairly quickly so the juicy markers do not soak into the paper too much.

For the inside I used the "Hoping all your CHRISTMAS WISHES come true" sentiment.  By using Stampin' Write Markers I was able to easily omit a word making it into a birthday greeting.

Thanks so very much for stopping by!  Please click on the links below to continue on to see the super creative work of the SR Crew!

Stamp Review Crew: Dino Days

Welcome to a very fun blog hop presented by the Stamp Review Crew!  We have the adorable little dinosaurs of the Dino Days stamp set making their way around the world with our international group of Stampin' Up demonstrators.

As always we have our blogs permanently linked so you can easily jump from blog to blog.  And we have a super website that archives all of our past blog hops!

 https://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2019/09/DD.html

The base is 5-1/2" X 11",  scored at 4-1/4", 7" and 9-3/4".
I added a 3-1/2" X 4-3/4" kick stand scored at 3/4" on the back to help it stand.

Stamping on Designer Series Paper and a tiny row of braid adds a bit of interest on a mostly monochromatic card.

Fluffing out the tassels on the Woven Thread Trim makes some vegetation for the dino to hide in!

So very glad you chose to stop by!  Please click on the buttons below to continue on to more delightful Dino Days projects!

Stamp Review Crew: Stitched All Around

Happy Labor Day!  Hope you are having a relaxing day with family and friends.  Many Stamp Review Crew members are taking a break this session but we have a mini blog hop for the stamp set Stitched All Around.   The hop is short and sweet but big on fun ideas!

We have a wonderful website with an archive of past hops that are chock full of inspiration.  You can access it by clicking on the banner below.
 https://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2019/09/SAA.html

Many of my blog followers know that I am also a quilter/ sewing enthusiast so this set is right up my alley.  It inspired me to add some hand stitching.  Very relaxing to do!
Tip: Click on the photos to enlarge to see the detail!

I used the patterns on the DSP to guide the placement of the stitching.

Perfect for a country wedding!
Here I used the matching dies to emboss the background and die cut the stamped image.

Thanks so much for joining us for this little hop!  Please click on the buttons below to continue on:

3D Frame Tutorial

Today is a fun day!   I have a tutorial that is featured on Split Coast Stampers!!  You can see the written tutorial by clicking HERE and there is also a gallery of projects that others have made using the tutorial HERE.

This project was inspired by an acrylic photo frame that I saw in a store.  I thought I could adapt it as a great way to show off some pretty stamped stuff:)

It is super easy to make and you can use whatever Big Shot dies you have for the openings.

The butterfly display above uses three different Big Shot dies.
This origami theme uses one die run through the Big Shot several times.
And this smaller version uses a single die.
The video is short and sweet.  If you make one please leave me a link to your project.  I would love to see it and welcome you comments too!!

Stamp Review Crew: Apron of Love

Hello!  Stamp Review Crew members have a mini blog hop this session for the sweet stamp set Apron of Love.   We have a wonderful website with an archive of past hops that are chock full of inspiration.  You can access it by clicking on the banner below.
https://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2019/01/aol.html

I have two very different projects to share using the Apron of Love stamp set.

The first is inspired by the Retro Modernism style of art.  One of our past vacations was to Palm Springs and we really had fun going through the art galleries and stores.   I thought it would be fun to see if I could make something in this style with the rectangle stamp from the set.

Bermuda Bay, Pool Party and Calypso Coral are the perfect retro color combo!
Since the stamps in this set are photopolymer I could see through the stamp to come up with an over-lapping pattern.   Then came the fun of choosing colors and filling in the spaces.  I love the way it turned out!

The second project is the one I had in mind when I bought this set.  My daughter is an AVID baker. She has a special notebook that she keeps with recipes that she has created or has adapted in her own way.  This notebook is a treasure-trove of goodness!  I wanted to make an insert for the front pocket to surprise her.

I gave it to her today and she was delighted!

This will go inside the clear pocket on the front of the binder
to keep it from getting splattered when the chef is at work!

I do not always buy the coordinating thinlit dies but for
this set it really is a must. The detail in the dies really enhance the stamps
and are so much more detailed than I could ever cut by hand.

I put the die on the gingham DSP at a 45 degree angle
to create the bias pattern on the apron.

The little flowers are so darn cute!  I used the retired tee shirt die
--too perfect for this as she has a bunch of cooking tee shirts!
I love her little handwritten changes.   Her creations are amazing!!

So glad you could join us for our little hop today!  Please click on the links below to continue.

Hoppy Birthday

Light-hearted birthday cards are my favorite to send.  I used the sale-a-bration stamp set So Happy Together combined with the birthday cake from the Amazing Life set to make a fun little scene.

A quick scribble of alcohol marker for the grass and sky complete the scene.

I pulled out a couple of past SAB sets for this one.
Fun to use older stamps with new colors and paper!

Stamp Review Crew: Butterfly Gala Edition

Time for another edition of the Stamp Review Crew!  On the first and third Monday of each month Crew members share their personal take on a chosen stamp set.  This time it the pretty Butterfly Gala set.  What better time to bring out the butterflies and think (wishfully!) of spring?  Past hops are archived on our SRC blog which you can see any time of year by clicking on the banner below.

 https://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2019/02/bg.html

I decided upon a circle spinner card to add some movement to the lovely butterflies.

Originally I planned to add more embellishments.   I pulled out the matching organdy ribbon and flower sequins which looked very inviting but I ended up liking the simplicity of just the gingham paper and sentiment.

The bright colors of the Stampin' Blends are all the decoration needed for this one!

Circle spinners are super fun and easy!  You can find my video tutorial for them with lots of variations HERE.

Now it is time to continue to the next stop on the SRC hop.  Please click on the buttons below!

Stamp Review Crew: A Little Wild Edition

Hello and welcome to a Stamp Review Crew blog hop that is a little wild (and a lot adorable)!  We are featuring the incredibly cute stamp set  A Little Wild.

I think this is a record for me to have participated in three hops in a row!  We had incredibly cold weather in the Midwest this past week.  Everything shut down meaning a bit more time to get some stamping done.  Plus there have been several new babies.  Perfect timing!

This set has images for the front and back views of the critters.  I wanted to take advantage of that and decided to make an offset accordion fold card so the little guys could be seen from both sides

The base is 5-1/2" X 12", scored at 4-1/4", 7-1/4" and 10-1/4"

Peeking around the corner!

The little bear is playing Hide and Seek... "You can't see me"!

Cute ending!

So glad you were here for our wild little hop!  Please click on the buttons below to continue.
