Embroidered Blooms

I used perle cotton Size 8 for the flowers and
two strands of embroidery floss for the leaves.

I like to keep my eye out for stamp sets that I think would be pretty for embroidery.  There are several stamps in the Corners In Bloom set that are perfect for this!

The lavender flowers look so lifelike!

This is the same stamp set that I used in my previous blog post about no-line watercoloring.   It is amazing how different it looks in embroidery instead of ink.

I again used #8 perle cotton for the flowers and two strands of embroidery floss for the leaves.  The flowers are outlined with a lazy daisy stitch in dark purple and then filled in with lighter purple.  The leaves are stitched with longer straight stitches.  Little yellow French knots finish off the flower centers.

Corner in Bloom No-Line Watercolor

For these cards I experimented with watercolor painting and a No-Line ink (Ink on 3 Fadeout ink).   This first card is done on Stampin' Up watercolor paper.  I stamped the image with the fadeout ink then watercolored with diluted Stampin' Up Classic Ink.

It was pretty cool to see that the dilute watercolors run up to the stamped lines and fill in the image and make the outline the same color as the flowers or leaves but darker.  You have to be pretty patient filling in each area with just the right amount of watercolors so that each section is painted but does not overflow or the color will go beyond the outline.  I colored each section with quite diluted color and when that was dry I used less diluted colors to add shading to each flower and leaf.

This second card uses the same stamp and inks but is stamped on Stampin' Up Designer Series Paper.  This gave a more subtle soft and dreamy look.  The fadeout ink remained more transparent.

Robot Buddies Birthday Duo

A couple of fun retro robots cards were in order for the March birthdays.  These were made with the mix-and-match robot body elements from the Robot Buddies kit, the Flying By stamp set, and words from a few retired stamp sets.

These were quite quick to make!   Except for looking through all my stamps to find the perfect words.  Someday I should catalog the sayings in my retired sets to make it easier to find them when I am coming up with custom phrases to fit a card... something to add to the long list of "someday projects - lol!

Out of this world birthday wishes!

The alien from the Flying By stamp set is groovy!
I thought the Mini Corrugated embossing folder looked like metal sheeting and was perfect for this.
