Stamp Review Crew: Rays of Light

Hello and welcome to the latest Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop!   Our international crew highlights one Stampin' Up stamp set on each blog hop.  Hops are the first and third Mondays of the month and are a great way to get lots of ideas for using a set!   Click on the banner below to see a complete list of Crew members and see all the past hops which we keep active.

We are using the very cool background stamp Rays of Light for this edition.  I am looking forward to seeing what the crew members create as this stamp has oodles of possible ways it can be used.

Our daughter-in-law and I had a chance to spend an afternoon together in the craft room.  What a fun time!  As she had never heat embossed we pulled out different powders and stuff to experiment.  She came up with the very neat background for this card by using clear embossing powder, various markers and then spritzing it with water.

It created a groovy tye-dye effect.  Since we know a special someone who has a big selection of tye-dye shirts and socks it was perfect for a hip Father's Day card.

TIPS for creating this effect:  First heat emboss the rays with clear embossing powder on white cardstock.   Then scribble random sections with Stampin' Write Markers.  (Three colors were used here.)  When scribbling don't completely fill in the white areas.   Then spritz with water.  After the colors have bled together a bit blot with a paper towel.

I tried to get a photo to show the clear embossing a bit better.   The stamp is created with a distressed effect for the rays really giving this a unique look.

Thanks so much for hopping with us!  Have a lovey sunshiny day!

Stamp Review Crew: Grassy Grove

Hello and welcome to the latest Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop!   Our international crew highlights one Stampin' Up stamp set on each blog hop.  Hops are the first and third Mondays of the month with an occasional bonus hop just for fun.    Our hops are a great way to get lots of ideas for using a set!   Click on the banner below to see a complete list of Crew members and see all the past hops which we keep active.

Our stamp set for this session is the serene set Grassy Grove.   I have to say that I chose this set not just for the stamps but also for the cool coordinating dies.  I had a card planned for this hop using the stamps plus the dies but the last few days have been unexpectedly busy and I ran out crafting time.    I do have a birthday card that I made but have not yet posted using just the dies.   So many of the dies are great stand alone options separate from the stamp set.

The watercolor-like New Horizons paper is so pretty for the sunset!

Stamp Review Crew: In The Moment

Welcome to the latest Stamp Review Blog Hop.  We are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from around the globe.   Every first and third Monday of the month we host a hop featuring a different stamp set.  This is a great way to see a bunch of projects in a variety of styles.  One stamp set,,, so many ideas!

We have the past hops archived on the Stamp Review Crew website.  Please click on the banner below to see all the creative goodness!

This time we are featuring the lovely line art stamp set In The Moment.   Soft and relaxing watercolors fit the mood of this set so well.  After using the Stitched with Whimsy dies I hand trimmed around the outside border.  For the background I used the Bricks and Mortar 3D embossing folder to add a rustic texture.  It is cut ever so slightly smaller than the Cinnamon Cider cardbase and is lightly sponged with smudges of Early Expresso ink.

This closeup shows the pretty watercolor wash in the background and the ribbon detail.  I pulled threads from a length of Soft Succulent ribbon then layered a flower cut from the Heart and Home Designer Series Paper and a folded piece of the satin ribbon.

So glad you have stopped by!  To continue the hop please click on the buttons below to see more lovely In The Moment projects!

Stamp Review Crew: Gentle Waves Edition

Hello and welcome to the latest Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop!   Our international crew highlights one Stampin' Up stamp set on each blog hop.  Hops are the first and third Mondays of the month and are a great way to get lots of ideas for using a set!   Click on the banner below to see a complete list of Crew members and see all the past hops which we keep active.  So many creative things to see and enjoy!

We have a short and sweet blog roll for this edition and you may have just seen Cindy's gorgeous ideas.  If not be sure keep on hopping to see each stop.

The Gentle Waves background stamp is our pick for this little hop.    I enjoy having a collection of background stamps as they add depth to a layer or card base.

The background stamp is subtle with tone-on-tone Blackberry Bliss
stamped on a Blackberry Bliss card base.  In person it shows much better.

The Sea Life Dies are unique in the way they make partial cuts giving 3-D results.

A bit of Metallic Mesh Ribbon peeking out looks like a delicate sea coral.

Gilded Ribbon Video Tutorial

I am happy to share a video tutorial that I made for Spiltcoast Stampers.  It has a technique for applying Gilded Leafing to ribbon to add a special touch of elegance to a project.

The ribbon remains flexible even with the leafing on it so it can be bent and folded.   I have used for creating a woven background on this card.

Lots of gold to accent the crane.

I have previously posted several of the projects shown in the video.  The details of those can be found on these posts:  Art Gallery Cards   Blessings of Home Hoop Decor.

The center of the flower also has gold leafing.

Sheer ribbon is fun because the gilded ribbon shows through.

A teeny tiny bit of gilded ribbon tucked in a the edge.

Stamp Review Crew: Amazing Silhouettes

Hello and welcome to the latest Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop!   Our international crew highlights one Stampin' Up stamp set on each blog hop.  Hops are the first and third Mondays of the month and are a great way to get lots of ideas for using a set!

If you click on the banner below you will be taken to the Stamp Review Crew website which has a complete list crew members and you can see all the past hops as well.

https://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2017/10/beautiful-you.html

Our stamp set this time is the Amazing Silhouettes set.  I chose to use the butterfly stamp and pair it with the delicate floral and butterfly paper from the Symbols of Fortune DSP.  I covered a composition notebook with the paper and added the stamped layer.

The composition book is 7.5" X 9.75".  The DSP is cut 7" X 9.75".  Once the paper
was adhered, I hand rounded two edges to match the corners of the cover.

The Soft Succulent Satin Ribbon is one of my favorite things from the current Mini Catalog.  It is a beautiful heavy quality and looks so elegant.  I have been wanting to do something special with it so I made a pen holder for the notebook.  If you scroll to the bottom of the post I have a few notes on how I made it.

A piece of elastic sewn to the ribbon gives a secure fit.

Thanks so much for hopping with the Stamp Review Crew.  Please click on the buttons below to see more Amazing Silhoutettes projects!

Stamp Review Crew: 2020 Winter Sale-a-bration #2

The Stamp Review Crew has another bonus hop featuring Sale-a-Bration goodies!  The format is a little different for this hop.  Instead of each member creating with the same stamp set as we usually do this time we are all using different Sale-a-bration products.  As always though we are archiving the hop for future reference and be sure to check out our last Sale-a-Bration bonus hop.   Please click on the banner below to see past hops and to check out the bios of the crew members.

I wanted to make a birthday card with the Mischievous Mice stamp set.  Looking through my Designer Series paper I discovered the PERFECT one to use - the Sale-a-Bration Sunshine and Rainbows. Not just the outside of the card-- check out the CHEESE on the inside!  How about some colby-jack for the mice!
The balloon is paper-pieced. Stamp the balloon on the
pink DSP, cut on the lines and glue it on top of the stamped design.

I used a So Saffron Stampin' Blend to
shade the holes and the top of the cheese.

I also had a small-sized birthday present that I needed to wrap.  I used some little odds and ends that I had cut for other projects to decorate the box and make a little gift enclosure card.
Birthday present for my "car guy"!

So glad you hopped by!  Please click on the buttons below to continue on to more great Sale-a-bration ideas!!
