2016 Retiring Stamp Sets Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin' Addicts Retiring Stamp Set Blog Hop!  It is time for some lovely stamp sets to retire to make way for new ones coming out in June in the Stampin' Up! 2016-2017 Annual Catalog.

The Corner Garden background stamp is a beautifully detailed design that is super for a variety of techniques.

For my first card I used just a small section of the stamp.  I heat embossed with White Embossing Powder on Sahara Sand cardstock and cut out the bottom right corner.   Mounting it on a dark DSP made it pop.  There are little touches of a couple of retiring ribbons to add a bit more texture.
For this sympathy card I stamped the whole image with Versamark on Sahara Sand, embossed with white and sponged on color before cutting it out.  I omitted some of the leaves when cutting to give a more simplistic design.   The Sahara Sand background gave a more sedate color palette than a pure white base would have.
This last card is a new technique for me and I absolutely LOVE it!  I followed the Vintage Watercolor tutorial from Splitcoaststampers.  What a relaxing project!  I was so happy with the results and I have to say my family really oohed and aahed when they say this one.  It was impossible to capture it on a photo (especially the fine distressing and spatters of Gold Wink of Stella).  If you click on any of the photos they will enlarge to better see the detail.
I experimented to see which Stampin' Up products would give an effect similar to the Non-SU products used in the tutorial.  I stamped the image with Early Espresso Classic Ink on watercolor paper.  Classic inks are water soluble so when touched or painted over with water they bleed.  Early Espresso bleeds with green and pink tones giving lovely multi-toned colors.  After going over all the images with a wet paint brush I went back and added touches of diluted reinker- Rose Red on some petals and Basic Black in the centers of the flowers.

Once everything was dry I added some grid marks with a sparingly inked and spritzed stamp from Timeless Textures,  flicked specks of Early Espresso and Rose Red, added some water drops to smudge it more and finally added fine specks of glitter from the Wink of Stella Gold pen.
A gold heart doily mounted on the inside peeks out from the angled front edge.
This was a longer post but I hope you enjoyed the details!    Please click on the buttons below to continue on with the blog hop to see the creative projects other "Addicts" have created!
