Our stamp set this time is the Trees for Sale set.  This is a very popular stamp set and I have seen so many whimsical cards using it and the coordinating dies .    I thought I would go for a subtile soft look for my cards and ended up using an unexpected item to get the effect I was looking for.

I first stamped the trees on the lovey blue watercolor-look paper from the Rings Of Love paper pack.  (A Sale-a-bration selection)  The result was not as soft and dreamy as I was looking for.  I tried layering a piece of vellum over the top but the images did not show up enough.  Trying to think of what might be not quite so opaque I tried WAXED PAPER and... "SURPRISE" it was JUST RIGHT!   (Sound like Goldilocks and the Three Bears!)

The photo does not show it particularly well but the waxed paper creates a dreamy look.

The second card has the Hues of Happiness DSP as the background and also is covered with waxed paper to soften the look.
Once the image was stamped I wrapped the DSP just like I was wrapping
a present with the waxed paper.  I used scotch tape on the back to secure it.

These are very quick to do!   Because the both of these papers have patterns that vary throughout the page every card will look a bit different.  You could do a whole stack and each one will be unique!

I'm so glad you have visited today!  Please click on the buttons below to see more ideas for using the Trees For Sale stamp set.  Have fun hopping!

Stamp Review Crew: Summer 2022 Sale-a-bration

The Stamp Review Crew has a special hop this time!  The format is a little different for this hop.  Instead of each member creating with the same stamp set as we usually do this time we are all using different Sale-a-bration products.   As always though we are archiving the hop for future reference.  Please click on the banner below to see past hops and to check out the bios of the crew members.

I chose the Wonderful World stamp set and coordinating Designer Series Paper bundle  for my cards.

I decided to try something new for the first two cards:  no-line watercoloring.  I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked.  I used a fade-out disappearing ink to stamp the images on watercolor paper.  I am not experienced in watercoloring and was not sure if I could do it well.   Because these floral images are very detailed it gave me the help I needed to watercolor in the right places.  I love how delicate the flowers look.

The accent fluff is made by fraying a strip of Natural Finish Ribbon.

The lattice is made with snippets cut with the Split Card Textures Die set on point.

My third card uses the rose stamp traditionally stamped with classic ink.  It is pretty nifty that this DistINKtive stamp set is designed to stamp both the dark and light areas at the same time.

The card is one that I designed using a partial die cutting technique and is perfect for double-sided paper.   This one is sealed on the side and bottom to form a pocket for the bookmark.   I made a video for this technique which I have added below.  Details for other cards using this technique can be found in this POST.

Perfect for a special book lover!

The angle of the card front is cut to match the angle of the pattern on the paper.

Next up on the blog hop is one of our newest Crew Members - Kristie Wilson!  Please click on the buttons below to continue on to more great Sale-a-bration ideas!!
