Stamp Review Crew: The Open Sea Edition

Welcome to the newest edition of the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop.  This time we are featuring the popular nautical set The Open Sea.   Sail along as the Crew shares fresh ideas for these rugged images.

With several family birthdays in March, I chose this set for the guy cards.   The first has a very worn look.  I tore a few edges and burned others.
Once I had all the layers adhered to the card front, I closed the card and burned some areas making the front and back symmetrical.
Stamping inside finished card
Burning the edges can be a bit messy.  I did this near a sink so the ashes could fall in the basin and I could put out the flames if it got out of control.  (It didn't but it does burn quickly so it is good to be safe!)   I let the fire continue to smolder in some areas so it burned deeper giving the irregular shape.

The next card (I think) is pretty cool mostly because I learned something new!  I wanted to make a ship in a bottle but could not find an image on the internet that was just right. So I made one with My Digital Studio!  I did it by editing a tag punch and combining it with several other simple shapes.
This was my first attempt to edit a punch and I have to say it is easy and fun!
Original shape
I stretched the top and added curved sides to make the neck of the bottle.
Large Oval Punch, Square Punch, Edited Tag Punch, Small Oval
Once that punch was edited I overlapped it with other basic punches to make the rest of the bottle.  The ship is stamped on top as I only own the physical version of this set but if you had the MDS version of The Open Sea it would be easy peasy to add the digital stamp!
