Tea Party Accordion Pop Ups

My second design project for Cards with Cool Moves features Simply Fabulous Simply Sent Kit, the Tea Party stamp set and two of the new In-Colors Pistachio and Crisp Cantaloupe.

The delicate design of the diecuts from the Simply Sent Kit make a pretty base for the pop up mechanism with just a few quick scores.

Epic Day Circle Spinner Cards

The Cards with Cool Moves of  UStamp is in session and my first design project features circle spinning cards.  

Circle Spinners are fun variations of penny spinner cards.   The flower on the left card and the butterfly on the right card spin around the inner circles.  The 1-3/4" and 2-1/2" circle punches nest together leaving the perfect spacing for the penny to spin.

Simply Fabulous Congratulations

After a LONG break from posting (and stamping!), I have a few projects to share over the next few days.

This one is a super simple one-layer postcard using the Simply Fabulous Simply Sent Kit and the Ronald McDonald Charity stamp set called Tag It.  I needed something quick but still fun.  A great way to get out of a long stamping dry spell!

Keep in Touch - Resizing DSP Tutorial

One of the products retiring this month is the My Digital Studio Keep in Touch CD.  This was one of the very first things that caught my eye when last year's catalog came out.  The retro images of TVs and phones are just my style.

There are also images that are perfect for a school layout or as in the card below notes to a friend.

The images on pencil DSP and dotted DSP were too large for the proportions of the card so I reduced the size of them.

Here is a quick tutorial of how to make this card including resizing DSP:

1.  Open a blank 4-1/4" X 5-1/2" landscape card.
2. Add three square punches to the page.   Pull the corners to form three rectangles sized approximately as shown.  Add DSP to each.  The top is Keep in Touch DSP #4, the middle is Keep in Touch DSP # 6, and the bottom is Keep in Touch DSP #1.

3.  Double click on the middle section.  It will bring up the Punch Image Editor.

4.  Click on the left zoom button (the negative) several times until the image is reduced to a size you like.

5.  Repeat with the bottom section.

6.  Add two Basic Gray Grosgrain ribbons from the embellishment section.  (These are full size- no need to adjust.  If you did want to change the size just double click on it.)

 7.  Add a Basic Gray Grosgrain Knot.  Use the mirror image button to flip is over.

8.  Add the envelope and pencil embellishments from Keep in Touch.

 I had my card professionally printed through Stampin' Ups print service.  Love the way it turned out!

Color Refresh Retiring Colors Blog Hop

I have the pleasure of wrapping up the Stampin' Addicts Retiring Colors Blog Hop.   Each member has highlighted one of the lovely colors that are retiring as part of Stampin' Up's Color Refresh.   I am going to show how pretty they are in combination with each other.

I started by spreading out all the retiring colors and rearranging them into various combos.  The results were unexpected and fun!  I have had these colors at my fingertips and yet had never put some of these together.  I hope you are inspired to try some new combos yourself and then be sure to stock up on your favorites while they are still available.

 First I went with a masculine combo of Not Quite Navy, Bravo Burgundy and More Mustard.  Then to lighten it a bit I added Bashful Blue.  These colors complimented the Fan Fair DSP nicely.

Then a softer combination of Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery and River Rock.  A touch of Baja Breeze ink around the butterfly makes it pop.  Also the Baja Breeze Seam Binding will be retiring in May.. love that stuff!  And speaking of "love" did you notice the stamp?  That is from the Best of Love stamp set which is part of the Best of 25 Years sets which are bringing back favorites from the past.

And finally a very feminine combination of Riding Hood Red, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink and Lucky Limeade.  The image is colored with markers of all four colors.  I am a marker collector and love having past colors in my collection for shading images so don't forget to get the markers too while you can!

Sweet Threads Gift Caddy

Dawn Rapsas gave the designers of the Big Shot Round Up session of UStamp with Dawn and Friends the challenge of using every single current Big Shot product.  We have been having fun pulling out older favorites and combining them with new items from the Spring Catalog.

For my project, I chose the older Sweet Buttons embosslit and Buttons #5 sizzlit to go with the new Needlepoint Border embossing folder, Sweet Threads Simply Sent Kit and the Pop 'n Cuts Card Base to make a sewing themed gift caddy.   To continue the sewing theme, I filled the caddy with  fabric, ribbon and buttons.

The caddy is made with the Fancy Favor die and the Pop 'n Cuts base designed by Karen Burniston. The SU! Pop 'n Cuts products are so popular and the designers have really showcased just how versatile they are.  Karen is designing several exclusive projects just for the Big Shot Round Up session and several other designers have super projects with the suite as well.  To sign up for access to all the tutorials click on the link below.
