Petal Cone Bowls

More Petal Cone die projects!  

I connected multiple pieces together to make two different sized bowls. 

 

The larger bowl uses four die cut pieces

and the smaller uses three.

The view from the side shows the decorations.

To make these, score the petal cone pieces as shown in this post: Petal Cone Candy Basket Tutorial.  Do not cut the tips off.  Instead fold all tips to the bottom and adhere.

Then cut a circle of lightweight chip board and a two circles of DSP the diameter of the base.

Adhere the chipboard circle to the underside of the bowl with strong adhesive and cover it with DSP to match.

Glue the second DSP circle inside the bowl.

I added contrasting scalloped pieces to the larger bowl for added decoration.

Somehow I suspect the candy display will not last long!

Petal Cone Candy Basket Tutorial

A tisket a tasket a green and yellow basket....  How about a green and polka dot basket?  

Made with the petal cone die, this little basket holds four chocolate eggs.

The side view shows how I curved the petals.

And the inside view shows an extra decorative layer made with the 2-1/2" circle punch and the holes for the chocolates.

To make this:
1. Cut two pieces of DSP with the Petal Cone die.

2. Make a score line two inches below the score line made by the die.   Cut one inch below this new score line.

3. Cut the small piece on the bottom left away.  Cut to the score line along the fold.

4.  Assemble basket with Sticky Strip.  Roll the upper part of each petal over a pencil to form a curve.
5.  Add a 5/8" x 10" handle.
6. On a 2-1/2" X 2-1/2" piece of scrap paper, arrange four circles punched with the 3/4" circle punch from post-it notes.

7.  Use the post-it notes as a guide and punch the scrap paper to make a template.

8. Score a 3" X 3" piece of DSP 1/4" from each edge.  Clip corners.
9. Place the template in the center and use the 3/4 punch to punch the four holes using the template as a guide.

10.  Fold the sides up and adhere.

11.  Using sticky strip on the outer edges,  adhere this piece inside the basket.

12.  Cut rings of DSP for decoration by punching with the 3/4" circle first then center the 1-1/4" circle punch around the hole and punch again.  Adhere rings around the four holes.

13.  Punch two pieces of contrasting DSP with the 2-1/2" circle punch.  Cut each in half.  Curve the pieces and adhere inside the basket as shown above.

The first of my two projects have been posted on UStamp with Dawn and Friends- Big Shot Brilliance.  I really gave my Big Shot a workout on this one!

Stampin' Up! has 119 Big Shot products and all of these are being used by the UStamp designers.  Quite an undertaking and the results are amazing!  With all these projects as inspiration I could be busy for a very long time.  If you are looking for some very creative uses for Big Shot products be sure to check it out.

Strength and Hope Gift Set

We were invited to the best kind of party today- a "Done with Chemo and Cancer Free Celebration"!  I made a gift set to take along.

It included 6 notecards, a post-it note holder, a covered tablet and a pop up butterfly card.

The images are from the Strength and Hope digital stamp set.  I reduced the size of the stamps and printed a page of images on Whisper White cardstock, then cut them out and put them on notecards.

The post-it notes and tablet were covered with black cardstock and decorated to match.

The pop up butterfly card was made with an incredible tutorial by Karen Burniston the creator of the die.  She wrote the tutorial for the Big Shot Brilliance UStamp event that is going on now.

Believe it or not, the card is made with the SU! Pop-up Christmas Tree die.  

I used several retired DSPs for the pinks and grays as well as the current newsprint DSP.  The butterflies float on the acetate base.  The swirl pops up as well when you open the card.  Rhinestones dress up the inside; I should have taken a few more close-ups.

For the gift bag, I added a coordinating tag.  A nice gift for an even nicer occasion. 

St. Patrick's Bliss Card and Bitty Box

More chocolate mint projects today!  

Four candies fit perfectly in the Bitty Box!

The card measures 5 X 5.  I used confetti white cardstock for the base as it is heavier weight.  St. Patrick's Day projects need a touch of gold so there is a layer of brushed gold cardstock just barely peeking out behind the wild wasabi embossed layer and the sentiment is stamped on brushed gold.  The shamrock is stamped tone-on-tone with the Hydrangea flower from the Because I Care hostess set then layered on Very Vanilla hearts cut with the Scalloped Heart of Hearts embosslit.  The stem is punched with the 2-step Bird punch.  The Bliss candy is attached with glue dots.

Before assembling the Bitty Box, I stamped the top of the box to match and made a shamrock with the smallest heart from the Heart to Heart punch.

St. Patrick's Day Bliss Basket

Another petal cone project!  This die is sure getting a workout.  I finished this little basket and have three more projects almost done made with it as well that I will be showing you soon.   Not only that - the big project I just finished for my design team uses this die.   Funny thing is I still have not made a cone with it like it is intended!

I didn't take pictures as I was doing it but if you look at the post where I made this candy dish you can get the idea.  For the basket, I measured two inches from the marked score line and made score lines.  Then I measured one inch further and cut the tip off.  Fold on the score lines.  You will need to make one snip to be able to fold the bottom flaps to form the bottom.

The candies are mint Bliss chocolates.  Just the thing for St. Patty's Day!  Surprisingly this little basket holds quite a few.

EDIT:  Here are photos to help.
1. Fold petal cone piece in half.

2.  Insert in cutter, place the top score line on the two inch mark and score.
3. Place top score line on the three inch mark and cut the tip off.

4. Snip up to the bottom score line and cut away the small portion as shown.
5.  Fold on score lines and adhere with sticky strip.

My Digital Studio Owl Hybrid Card Set

These are two of the six cards I designed for the current session of UStamp.  They are full sized cards that fit in A4 envelopes.  

I used the So Much to Sale-a-Brate digital CD.  All the designers are working hard on projects for the next round which focuses on the ever-popular Big Shot.  You can get all the details HERE.
