Stamp Review Crew: Dry Brush Edition

Welcome to the latest Stamp Review Crew Blog hop!   Our crew consists of a wonderful group of Stampin' Up demonstrators from around the world.  Each session we highlight a single stamp set.  You will love the variety of styles and all the ideas we have to share!  Please click on the banner below to see more info about our crew and to view the archive of past hops.

This session instead of a stamp set the crew is highlighting the great background stamp called Dry Brush. The texture of this stamp is so very versatile.  I used it in two places on my card - on the white inner layer with multiple colors of ink and on the outside layer with tone-on-tone stamping.

For the center layer, I swiped the Dry Brush background stamp with Pool Party and
Highland Heather stamp pads before cutting it with the Celebration Labels die.

You can see up close the detail of the both the outer and inner layers here.  The outer layer is stamped with with Highland Heather and was stamped off once.

Any one who knows me knows I love kitties and loved using Grace's Garden set in combination with the pretty background.

And one more picture of the kitty project in my garden!

So glad you stopped by today!  Please click on the buttons below to continue on with hop.

Stamp Review Crew: Have a Hoot

Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew blog hop!  Every two weeks the crew hosts a blog hop featuring a new stamp set and this time we have a cutie!

Click to see all the past SRC blog hops!

Besides really liking the adorable owls, one of the things that attracted me to this set was the coordinating dies.  I really like that the three openings are cut with one die.  I used that die to make a 3D  free standing display for Halloween.

I have a video of how to make this style of display which can be found HERE.

These little owls are just so fun!  The silly expressions on the faces are a hoot!

The Metallic Mesh Ribbon is great for a bit of background texture.

Iron-On Vinyl for Papercrafting Video Tutorial

I did a tutorial for Splitcoast Stampers about using clear Iron-On Vinyl for paper crafts.  The usual use for the vinyl is covering fabric to make tote bags or zipper bags.  As I started experimenting I found that it is great for paper too!   The vinyl not only preserves the project it also adds a nice luster to the paper and colors are more vibrant.   I really love how the vinyl made the alcohol marker coloring really pop.  After spending time carefully applying markers it is nice to know the artwork will be preserved and look lovely!

The tutorial shows how to make this pretty notebook

The written tutorial can be found on the Splitcoast Stamper site HERE.

Stamp Review Crew: Beautiful World

Hello and welcome to the latest Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop!   Our international crew highlights one Stampin' Up stamp set on each blog hop.  Hops are the first and third Mondays of the month and are a great way to get lots of ideas for using a set!   Click on the banner below to see a complete list of Crew members and see all the past hops which we keep active.  So many creative things to see and enjoy!

This month we are using the stamp set Beautiful World.  I really like the colors that are part of this suite of products.  Misty Moonlight is such a relaxing color!

I used the World of Good Memories and More Card Pack in conjunction with the stamp set to make this tunnel card.  The card is 4 X 6 inches because I used one of the Memories and More cards as the background.  The card folds flat and automatically pops out so it stands up.

It was hard to photograph this to fully show the 3D effect.   The globe looks like it is suspended in mid-air.   I mounted it on two strips of clear acetate and sandwiched it between the front and back on one side of the card.

Score two pieces of 6" X 6" cardstock 1/2" and 1" from both sides.
Sandwich the acetate strips between the front and back.

So glad you have stopped by!  Please continue with the hop by clicking on the buttons below.

May and June are big birthday months in our family so I am working ahead on building my birthday card collection.

The Stamparatus helped to get the stamps lined up on the balloon

The little koala is so silly and fun!

Stitching On Patterned Paper Tutorial

Hello stamping friends!  I am excited to share a video tutorial that I made for Splitcoast Stampers today.   It has ideas and tips for using patterned paper as background for hand stitching.

It is based on several cards that I made last fall.  (I am looking longingly at the hydrangeas in the background of the picture... we have just a few things starting to emerge and turn green.  Really ready for some pretty flowers to perk things up!)
You can see close ups of each of the cards on the original post HERE.

I think a little bit of stitching adds  a very special touch to a card.  I hope you have a chance to try it!

You can also see the written tutorial on the Splitcoast Stampers website by clicking HERE.
