Stamp Review Crew: 2021 Fall Sale-a-bration

The Stamp Review Crew has a bonus hop this month!  The format is a little different for this hop.  Instead of each member creating with the same stamp set as we usually do this time we are all using different Sale-a-bration products.   As always though we are archiving the hop for future reference.  Please click on the banner below to see past hops and to check out the bios of the crew members.

  

I chose to focus on the cute Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper.  The images are so happy you can't help but smile when playing with this fun paper!  A word of caution... the little guys are addicting and you will end up with more and more projects!

This is the project that started the fussy cutting frenzy!  I wanted to replace the penguin that was originally on the sled with the little bunny.  I added a tiny "rug" made of ribbon, made a few changes to the bunny's expression with a marker and gave her a purple scarf. 

A Christmas ornament for a special couple:)

This is a small framed piece with an easel back.  I have a previous video for making this type of mitered frame (see the bottom of the post for the video).  Start with a 6 inch by 7 inch piece of Designer Series Paper to make this size frame.

This card uses the Stitched So Sweetly die for the green inset and popped-up border.  A very quick way to add dimension.

It's so hot today I would love to build a snowman!

Once I was on a roll cutting the little critters out I decided to cut out a few more and make a little 3D snow scene with a folded Christmas tree.  I made a video of how to make the tree.  (See the bottom of the post.)

These will be cute for winter decor even past Christmas!

Stamp Review Crew: Quiet Meadow Edition

with an identical diecut vellum overlay.

Zippered Paper Pouch Video Tutorial

 

My video tutorial for making a Zippered Paper Pouch has been posted on Splitcoast Stampers!  

 

This one has been in planning/progress mode for quite a while.   I made my first vinyl covered projects including a pouch last July and have been dabbling with ideas since that time.   In September I did a video of general concepts for using vinyl + paper for Spiltcoast Stampers.  More ideas kept popping up and soon I was zipping through my little stash of Pellon iron-on vinyl.  I discovered that you can buy it by the yard at Joann's.  Sale + a coupon and I was in business for making some really fun stuff! 

The Zippered Paper Pouch video was my first attempt at videotaping at the my sewing machine.   There was a bit of a learning curve and a few hiccups getting that all squared away.  I could have made a blooper reel about as long as the finished one!

3D Thursday Guest Designer

 

My wonderful friend Twila Davis from Stamp A Little Longer asked me to be a guest designer for her 3D Thursday feature.  How fun!!  The button below takes you Twila's blog with the PDF for this project.

 

 

My project is a cute Kitty Key Cover.  (How is that for alliteration!)   

One of my childhood pets was a lovely gray angora cat with a very original name- Smokey.  This kitty's happy expression reminds me so much of her.  I can imagine her rumbling contented purr.

 

Pull the charm to conceal the key. 

The diecut pieces are covered with transparent vinyl to protect it before stitching the front and back together.  I have a series of posts with projects using iron-on vinyl.  The vinyl has opened a new wave of ideas for me.   I have a video of vinyl basics and one coming soon for sewing zippered pouches.  I have few more ideas that I need a bit a of time to work on!

Stamp Review Crew: Pampered Pets Edition

Of course I had to join in this SRC session as we are featuring the Pampered Pets stamp set and I cannot resist a cute cat stamp!

I have been on a roll making simple sewn projects with Stampin' Up supplies.  Each is covered with transparent iron-on vinyl before being machine stitched. 

They look so happy together!

The double sided paper is perfect as the inside is just as cute as the outside.  I am working on a video tutorial for making this zipper pouch and will post a link when I have that finished.

 The second project is a coupon holder.  The vinyl protects it making it great for slipping into a purse. 

Cut two pieces of scrapbook paper/cardstock 3-1/2” X 8-1/2” and 4-1/4” X 8-1/2”. Decorate as desired. Cover with iron-on vinyl.  Sandwich a loop of ribbon between the layers.  Use a sewing machine to sew around the sides and bottom close to the edge.

 The third is a little wristlet.

 

The inside has thin magnetic strips for the closure.  I put the magnets on the paper and then folded the vinyl over before ironing it in place.  (You have to be cautious not to get the iron too hot and move quickly over the magnet)

I have a video for using the iron-on vinyl with paper.  It is really a fun way to preserve your pretty stamping!  

I also have a shaker card with the cute doggie that I realize I never posted.

Stamp Review Crew - Crew Spotlight

 

The Stamp Review Crew is a wonderful group that I am delighted to have been a part of since its beginning in 2013.   We host regular blog hops that focus on a chosen stamp set.   

Recently we have added something new to the Stamp Review Crew Blog.  The blog will be featuring individual Crew Members so you can get to know us a little better.  And this is my turn!   You can check out my "interview" HERE! 

  

I grew up on farm where I enjoyed summer days reading with plenty of cats, dogs and other assorted animals nearby.  My mom and both grandmothers taught me sewing, embroidery and crocheting as well as gardening and cooking.   

I chose the Summer Days stamp set for my feature project.    I incorporated treasured memories and some of my current creative interests in this grouping of projects.

 

 

This zippered pouch combines my love of sewing and stamping.  And my favorite technique is to use Stampin' Blends which fit perfectly inside! 

 

I began by stamping on Basic White cardstock, coloring with the Blends and then covering it with clear iron-on vinyl.  The vinyl adds stability so it can be stitched with a sewing machine and it protects the stamping beautifully.  I am working on a video tutorial for this and will add a link when it is done.  

 

I also stamped on both zipper tabs... it needed more kitties!

 

Then I made a sleeve to keep my ever-necessary Paper Snips around my neck.    (And added a ribbon and charm to identify them if I happen to set them down at a stamping event!)  The sleeve is also covered with vinyl and stitched with the sewing machine.

The image of the little girl is so reminiscent of my childhood that I really wanted to make a framed project with it.

 

Taking the time to hand color the Speciality DSP for the frame was relaxing.  The alcohol inks blend so prettily together.  I guess that is why they are called Stampin' Blends- lol!

The idea for the frame occured to me as I was working on a mitered border for a quilt.  Sewing + stamping again!   (I have a video for making the mitered frame and have added the link for that at the bottom of the post. ) 

This looks very much like me except for the shoes.  I was (and am) happiest in barefeet!  

My affection for kitties is on-going and led to the name Kitty Stamp for my blog.  It seems the majority of my childhood pictures have a kitty or two (or three) in them.

 

 Even before I could sit up without being propped by pillows there were kittens.

 

Sharing my favorite blanket with a kitten.  (The blanket was hand embroidered with a picture of a kitten and made by my mom. )

Well... this one has four kittens!
